Progress On the Waterfront

Summary


We finally have a plan for the San Pedro waterfront. It took more than 10 years, and Port of Los Angeles officials say it could take up to another 10 years to complete construction. But let's look on the bright side: If their predicted schedule is accurate, we're more than halfway there.

Plus, the effects of the work will emerge as each additional project wraps up, meaning we'll see results - and be able to troubleshoot some problems - way before the official end date. Design for the Seventh Street Pier and cuts into the waterfront to create three new harbors have already been budgeted for this year, and port staff have just under a month to outline which other projects can start rolling.
