Just moments before the victim's funeral was set to begin, a 19- year-old reputed gang member was charged with murder Tuesday for the March 2 shooting death of a standout Los Angeles High School football player.

Pedro Espinoza is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw Jr. in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue, not far from the Shaw family's Arlington Heights home. Espinoza made a brief appearance in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday, but his arraignment was postponed until March 25.
