When the Jewish New Year, called Rosh Hashanah, arrives Monday evening, Jews worldwide will gather for prayers in homes and places of worship and afterward enjoy a meal full of rituals. The most symbolic custom is the dipping of challah, or holiday bread, and apple into honey - in hopes for a sweet year.
