The city of Carson estimates that it will reap $5.8 million this year from its new utility-users' tax - far less than was advertised during the campaign to pass the tax.

Voters were told in March that Measure C would bring in $7 million to $9 million per year. But since the city began collecting the tax in July, it has become clear that that initial estimate was overly rosy.
